A glacier is shaped through the accumulation of ice, snow, rock, and sediment. As a being of its own, the glacier triggers our imagination. It’s the difference between inhuman forces and our human fragility that creates the desire to observe, engage, relate, and touch. Landing has evolved through encounters of practices and propositions. We convene around twenty-one submissions presented here. Our collaboration is shaped by close reading and reflections between the editorial team, our advisory board, the authors of Edge of the Glacier’s text/image submissions, and our community of peer reviewers.
‘Edge of the Glacier’ is organised into four resonances that propose a way of engaging with the material. Articulating material fragments or freeze frames from larger practices, each author or author group moves with their own scale(s), weight, and gravity.

Extending the Echoes: Ways with Documentation for Artists Doing Research
No. 2 (2025)Extending the Echoes has been collaboratively shaped through a process of call and response. The articles provide examples of the different ways that artists who research engage with their own collected material; reflect on the processes by which this material is collected; and outline how this material becomes both modes for reflection and means to propel trajectories of making in multiple directions. Part of these different ways of approaching material involves recognising how context and lived experiences bleed into artistic production. The articles can offer insights into our relationships to journals, diaries, logbooks, and other collections that exist alongside and as an intrinsic part of this process. These are an artist's archive.
The term archive is charged: archives are by definition spaces of exclusion and reproduction of specific ideologies. When we talk about archives in the context of this issue of Landing, we’re talking about the recording media, anecdotes and the spaces between them and the perceived now. We’re talking about echoes. The echoes, and the means by which they are extended, oscillate in relation to the spaces of doing, observing, and deciding that frame research and inquiry within the arts.
There isn’t a single way to record or remember. An artist researcher can draw, recall, capture an image or refuse to do anything and thus create an outcome. Such an outcome is not contingent on an encounter, nor is it the byproduct of one. There is a complex interplay at work – a multitude of dynamics all riffing off each other and a hum that reverberates between action and reaction, transforming practice into something that could be defined as research with moments of doing, observing, and deciding. Means of documentation are both outcomes, and driving forces, of creative inquiries, as much as they are sites for doubt, questions and evidencing of that process. This is where this issue of Landing dwells.

Parodyk virtuvę / Show Me the Kitchen
No. 3 (2026)Parodyk virtuvę is a Lithuanian phrase which is used to say: “Show me the kitchen!” It is used when somebody wants to know the secrets of a particularly tasty dish or hack, as an invitation to look behind the curtain, without reference to specific skills or discipline. It is a gesture to reveal what is going on before a dish—a delicious blend of art and research—is served. Showing is a relational act. It implies interaction, questioning, trust, and generosity.
In Show Me the Kitchen, we are staying with artists in their own milieu, detailing a plurality of knowledges they carry. Artmaking transforms into art-doing. Whispering, conspiring, resonating, rocking, rotating, attracting, looping, co-conditioning, and defying gravity are ways in which our authors navigate their respective kitchens.

LANDING’s Editors Miklós (Miki) Ambrózy, Sophie L. O. Durand worked closely with contributing authors to develop their texts using a mode of peer connected reviewing as outlined in the editorial text 'Kitchen Notes'. This issue’s design as a versatile artist book was developed through dialogue with the publishing initiative Arklys (bachelor students in the Vilnius Art Academy’s Graphic Arts Department). Parodyk virtuvę connects different generations of artists, diverse methods of research, healthy practices of disagreement, and a creative resolution as a limited handmade edition.
