Abstract

Nika Grigorian engages with the concept of land on several levels, beginning a journey from her indigenous grandmother in the Komi Republic to her second grandmother in Armenia. She investigates how traditional gardening practices sustain communities and foster feminist resilience.

Author Biography

  • Nika Grigorian

    Nika Grigorian (b. St. Petersburg, Russia) is a research-based artist, curator, and educator whose  practice focuses on the intersections of feminism, post-socialist rurality, and peasant knowledges. Through a multidisciplinary approach, her work investigates the cultivation practices of women in post-socialist rural spaces, examining how these practices intersect with broader socio-eco343 logical narratives. Currently, she is pursuing a Binational Artistic PhD between the University of the Arts Bremen (HfK Bremen) and the Valand Academy (HdK Valand), where her doctoral research focuses on the embodied and material knowledges of women in these contexts.
