Abstract

Hanna Vahvaselkä considers wood as both material and carrier of memory. Her site-specific temporary installation, designed to be stumbled upon and made entirely from recycled wood, carries its own stories, as well as those of humans who have come in contact with it.

  • Hanna Vahvaselkä

Hanna Vahvaselkä is a craft-based sculptor. The material she has been working with for over two decades is wood. In addition to the concrete material, wood is also part of the conceptual content of her artworks, for example, through its transgenerational or forest ecological meanings. Recently, after working continuously with material processes, listening to the language of wood and the will of wood has also become an important part of her work.
