Abstract

Design researcher Andreas Körner begins by questioning whether design methods can be replicated, critically positioning his work against the techno-capitalist story of continuous improvement and refinement. He employs a hybrid approach of precision and accident in creating heat-driven encounters with ceramic objects, whose making goes against the solutionist approach to design.

Author Biography

  • Andreas Körner

Andreas Körner (Koerner) is an architectural designer and researcher based in Austria and the UK. He
received his PhD from the University of Innsbruck (2023), his MArch from the Bartlett School of Architecture (2016), and his BSc from TU Vienna (2013). Andreas is currently a postdoctoral
assistant professor in Innsbruck and a lecturer at the Bartlett. His research explores weathering in architecture, its theoretical, ecological, and disciplinary relevance in an age of climate change,
and its design integration through simulations, transient materials, and fabrication.
